Larissa Guder, a member of the Advanced Research Laboratory for Cloud Computing (LARCC) and a professor at Setrem, began her PhD in Computer Science at PUCRS in the second semester of 2024. The researcher, who holds a degree in Information Systems from SETREM and a master’s degree in Computer Science from PUCRS, is now deepening her studies in Artificial Intelligence.
Larissa’s research journey began during her undergraduate studies at LARCC, where she honed her skills and developed her final project on Artificial Intelligence. “The experience of scientific initiation not only exposed me to the research process but also instilled in me a deep understanding of its significance for society,” she reflects.
Currently, Larissa is an integral part of the Parallel Applications Modelling Group (GMAP), where she is actively involved in high-performance computing and data science research. Her master’s program focused on natural language processing, particularly speech emotion recognition in a streaming environment. For her doctoral studies, she is keen to delve into audio representations for psychopathology recognition.
For Larissa, the opportunity to balance her studies with professional work in academia is enriching. “Being able to contribute to the advancement of research while also sharing my knowledge with students is very rewarding,” she emphasizes.
LARCC provides a conducive environment for the development of scientific research, with cloud computing infrastructure and a team of experienced researchers. The laboratory is an excellent option for students interested in pursuing an academic career to start their research journey.
